Review Improvement Activities

Improvement Activities (IA) selections are made through the Improvement Activities page. You can review your selections by clicking the IA section of the CMS Submission 2017 page. As with the Quality section, physicians are listed by Physician Group TIN, and GPRO/Non GPRO designation is displayed, as determined by the GPRO section. MIPS Portal - CMS Submission - Improvement Activities


To make changes to selected activities, or if you have not yet made any selections, click the Review Improvement Activities button in the TIN header (for GPRO TINs) or in the physician NPI header (for Non GPRO TINs).MIPS Portal - CMS Submission - Review Activities


Note: If you are reporting using the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) and are accessing the MIPS portal as a Physician user, please ask your Facility Administrator or a Facility user to make any changes on your behalf.


The Improvement Activities page opens for that TIN/NPI. Review and make your changes on the IA page, click Save, and then select Go Facility CMS Page from the Go Back selector to get back to the CMS Submission 2017 page.MIPS Portal - IA - Go Back CMS Submission Page

Note: If you do not see your changes upon returning to the CMS Submission 2017 page, click the Refresh button at the top of the screen.


Clinicians are required to submit one to four activities, depending on their designation and the type of activity. Refer to IA Performance Category Requirements for details.



Attest for Advancing Care Information

You must complete a separate attestation for Advancing Care Information (ACI) before the ACR can submit your ACI measures. Open the ACI section by clicking on the header, review the attestation statement, enter your e-mail address, and click the I Attest button.MIPS Portal - CMS Submission - ACI Attestation



Review ACI Measures

ACI measures are selected via the Advancing Care Information page. Your current selections are visible on the CMS Submission 2017 page under the ACI section. Use the Review Measures button to open the Advancing Care Information page, make and save changes, and then return to the CMS Submission 2017 page.MIPS Portal - CMS Submission - Review ACI Selections


Note: If you are reporting using the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) and are accessing the MIPS portal as a Physician user, please ask your Facility Administrator or a Facility user to make any changes on your behalf.


Base measures are required in order to receive credit for the ACI category. For details on ACI scoring, refer to ACI Performance Category Requirements.



Finalize IA and ACI Selections

Enter your e-mail address and click the Finalize button for each TIN under the Improvement Activity and ACI sections to indicate your activities and measures are ready to be submitted to CMS.

Activities and measures will not be submitted for a TIN (GPRO) or physician NPI (Non GPRO) until you have both finalized your selections and completed the Attestation section to authorize the ACR to submit on your behalf. For ACI measures you must also complete the special ACI attestation, as described above.


The ACR will begin submitting all attested and finalized activities and measures in March, 2018. Once finalized, you may still make changes to your selects at any time up until March 31. To do so, click the Undo Finalize button, make your changes and click the Save button for each activity/measure you change, and click Finalize to indicate your selections should be resubmitted to CMS.
