The Facility Excel Report provides CTDIvol, DLP, and SSDE data for your facility compared to the DIR registry and facilities with the same location type, facility type, Trauma Center Level, and in the same Census Division. This color-coded report provides the number of exams and percentiles, including medians, for dose indices with national and regional comparisons. It also provides trend reports for dose indices that shows changes in a dose index in your facility over time for a specific exam.

This report is provided on a quarterly basis and is available in the Aggregate Reports section of the DIR Reports menu.

A sample report is available here.

Report Tabs

The About This Report tab provides important information, including a list of each table in the report.

There are three types of data reports:

  • The Body Part table summarizes all CTDIvol, DLP, and SSDE data for exams by body part in a single tab, benchmarked against similar facilities and the entire registry. This table is a comprehensive listing of data by scan and by exam and is designed to let you filter and analyze data quickly – e.g. compare SSDE per Exam across different body part exams.DIR Facility Excel Report - Body Part Table

  • The dose indices tabs show data for the most recent quarter for CTDIvol, DLP, and SSDE. There are two tabs per dose index: one by scan, and another for data across all scans in an exam, for a total of six tabs. You can filter and sort by any column and use the highlighted rows to identify outliers. The conditional formats are as follows:

    • If the facility median is greater than the 75th percentile of the DIR then the exam is color coded in orange.DIR Facility Excel Report - Conditional Formatting

    • If the median of your facility is less than the DIR 25th percentile value then the exam is color coded in blue.

    • Rows with median values falling between the 25th and 75th percentiles are highlighted in tan.

Note: If you want to select all the protocols for which your facility medians are higher than DIR 75th percentiles, you can do so by applying the filters in the DIR Standing column and selecting Above 75th percentile.  This is a good start if you are thinking of protocol optimization.  Please note, while doing so, you need to take a look at the total number of exams performed ("N") and make sure it is not too small. As always, please consult your medical physicist before making any changes to your protocol.

  • Trend tabs show data by quarter, for just your facility, so you can see how percentiles and medians change over time. This is especially useful for a PQI project or protocol optimization initiative.

There are two additional tables that provide reference data for the report:

  • The Short Name RPID Lookup table shows the mapping of RPIDs, assigned by other DIR facilities, to the report Short Name displayed in the report.

  • The Study Description RPID Lookup table lists the exam name mapping for each Study Description for your facility.

Note: Use the Study Description RPID Lookup table to review your data and make sure your exam name mappings are complete. Missing Study Descriptions may indicate you have not mapped the study to a RadLex Playbook ID and the data will not be included in aggregate benchmark reports.

Master Facility Excel Reports

Facilities with a Master-Child hierarchy receive an additional Master Facility Excel report listing data for each site and for all sites combined. Comparison benchmarks and conditional formatting are provided using the entire registry, and trend data are provided for all sites combined.
