The procedure for creating an NMD data file varies according to the software you use. In general, you specify beginning and ending dates for the period for which you would like to submit data. The software generates an NMD data file with data from all mammography exams within that period that qualify for inclusion in the NMD.
The file is stored on your computer with the name nmd_yyyymmdd-hrmiss.txt, where yyyymmdd-hrmiss indicates the date and time the file was created. Refer to the NMD Version 2.0/2.1 and Version 3.0/3.1 file format attachments in NMD Data Submission Overview for data file requirements.
If you have updated the data from a certain exam and would like to re-submit the exam to the NMD, you can specify a time period that includes the exam you want to re-submit. When you upload the resulting file to the NMD, all records in the file will be updated, including the record from the exam you want to re-submit. Some software products offer additional selection criteria in addition to the date, allowing you to be more selective in the records you want to update.
Uploading the File
Follow the steps described in Data File Uploads to upload the file, check the status of the file, and view rejected records. You should also review the more detailed Summary of Uploaded Data report generated for each data upload. This report provides detailed counts of data for each variable, including errors and missing data.
