Resolving "Patient(s) with provided identifier(s) already exists" error

This error means that you're trying to add a patient with a patient identifier that's already in use by another patient. Either that, or you're trying to add a patient identifier to a patient that is already in use by another patient. For example, here we're trying to add a Social Security number to an existing patient:

The error message is telling us that another patient, 23759271, already has this SSN. We can find that patient using the "Manage Patients" link:

Note that the existing patient, 23759271, has a different "Other ID" than the patient we're working with. The existing patient has an "other ID" (for example, MRN) of 666B, while the patient we're working with has an "other ID" of TB1. The system doesn't allow 2 different patients with the same SSN.

There are 4 possible patient IDs: SSN, Old MBID, New MBID and "other ID". The system doesn't allow duplicates for any of these fields. So you have to check all four to find the source of the error.
