NRDR participants receive access to accurate and objective measures regarding the quality of facility processes and outcomes in comparison to similar facilities nationwide. Clinicians benefit from this participation in a number of ways. Firstly, Eligible Professionals can now meet CMS Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) requirements (formerly known as the Physician Quality Reporting System or PQRS) based on satisfactory participation in NRDR – a Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR). This allows physicians to leverage their existing quality improvement efforts to satisfy CMS’s MIPS reporting requirements. Secondly, because all NRDR registries are certified by CMS as Practice Quality Improvement (PQI) projects, measurement submissions count as a Practice Performance Assessment credit toward your Maintenance of Certification (MOC Part IV). As such, your participation reflects your support for a systematic approach to the study of healthcare and your commitment to continuous improvements in outcomes-based healthcare. Thirdly, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act proposes the meaningful use of interoperable EHRs throughout the United States health care delivery system as a critical national goal. Reporting your measures to a registry using certified Electronic Health Record (EHR) technology may qualify for the Meaningful Use (MU) Public Health Reporting Objective. Additionally, the Dose Index Registry® (DIR) provides tools to support protocol review, assess performance, and deliver optimal care to patients.
As a fourth benefit for physicians who are also responsible for the business operations of their practice, NRDR offers a robust marketing toolkit to help promote their practice through a measures-driven demonstration of excellence. The kit includes customizable press releases and ads, as well as a special seal identifying you as a NRDR participant. Placement of this seal in a visible area in your practice will ensure patients are aware of the quality of your services and your facility’s credentials as a quality leader.
Lastly, physicians can use the registries with confidence, knowing NRDR’s controls and privacy policies comply with patient anonymity regulations and reflect industry best practices for patient data security.
