We highly encourage you to review your submitted data at least every two months to help make sure data are flowing accurately and completely to the DIR. You may receive e-mail notices from the NRDR to remind you to perform a “data quality check”, but, even if you do not receive a notice, you are still responsible for performing this critical step in preparation for your next aggregate feedback report.
To determine if we are receiving your data please log into the NRDR portal and follow the steps, below, to conduct checks on your data.
Compare Volume of Exams Received to Volume Transmitted
Use the Summary of Data Submitted report to determine the last time your facility submitted exam data to the NRDR. Run the report, leaving the date range blank to retrieve all data, and compare the NRDR number of exams received with your volume of exams sent. Please contact us at nrdrsupport.acr.org if the difference between the NRDR numbers and your total number of exams submitted is greater than 5%.
If there are discrepancies you should check the volume of exams received per month by using the date range filter to review one month at a time and compare the NRDR monthly total of exams received against your total number of exams submitted.
Determine if Each CT Scanner is Sending Exam Data
There are several reports that can help you verify your CT scanners are all sending data. A good tool to work with is the Scatterplot Over Time report. Run the report with a date range of at least the last three months so that you can review what your CT scanners have been sending since the last Executive Summary report (issued quarterly). The scatterplot displays the date each of your scanners sent exam data to the NRDR. If any data are missing or if an entire CT scanner’s exam data do not appear in the report, contact the ACR Connect - DIR Link Support Team to troubleshoot potential data transmission problems.
You should also check that Study Descriptions are being sent to confirm the names of your exams are being captured. To do this, open the Scatterplot Over Time report, set Query by to Study Description, select Null from the RPID / Study Description filter, and note which scanners are listed in the legend. If Null is not listed as a possible value for RPID / Study Description, then all scanners are transmitting Study Descriptions.
Reviewing Exams for Secondary Capture
For users submitting DIR data for 2021 MIPS participation, Check your interactive reports to monitor the volume of studies submitted using Secondary Capture versus RDSR. To view this information:
Open the CT Standardized Dose Index report under the DIR tab of your NRDR homepage.
Under the Exam Search tab, select your corporate account/facility ID(s)
Set the date range to start at January 1st, 2021 through the present day
Select RPID145 (Abdomen/Pelvis), RPID16 (Chest) and RPID266 (Head) under the Study Name checklist
The pie chart titled File Type will display the percentage of RDSR and Secondary Capture submissions.
What to expect:
Abdomen/Pelvis WO Contrast – DLP for most exams 400- 950
Chest WO Contrast – DLP for most exams 200-500
Head WO Contrast – DLP for most exams 700-1000 range
If any of your scanners consistently reports values below the lower band (i.e., <400, 200 or 700) contact us.
What to check:
Use the DIR CT Standardized Dose Index Reports and Navigate to the Scatterplot over Time tab. Run the following steps for multiple facilities in corporate account.
Select Corporate Account and Facility of interest– click Apply
Set the date range to start at January 1st, 2021 through the present day
Select DLP Total for Exam in the DIR Measure filter, all other filters can be left at default values
Then use RPID/Study Description filter to select (do each RPID separately)
CT ABDOMEN PELVIS W IVCON (RPID145) and Apply selection.
Deselect RPID145 - Select CT CHEST WO IVCON (RPID16) and Apply selection.
Deselect RPID16 - Select CT HEAD BRAIN WO IVCON (RPID266) and Apply selection
What to check:
After executing each individual RPID selection, check to see that all there are no scanners reporting unexpectedly low values.
Please contact the ACR Connect - DIR Link Support Team if the Study Descriptions are missing for more than 5% of the exams for a single scanner.
