The Boxplot by RPID/Study Description report allows you to analyze dose indices by exam for one or more facilities.

To access the report, select CT Standardized Dose Index Reports from the Interactive Reports menu, then click the Boxplot by RPID/Study Description tab.

Select at least one Corporate Account and click Apply to create the chart. By default, the report filters are set to retrieve exams for all facilities with study dates occurring within the current month for all RPIDs and scanners.

The rest of the report filters and parameters are set to default values and may be changed at any time:

  • DIR Measure selects the Dose index type (CTDIvol, DLP, or SSDE) to be displayed using either the maximum value across scans or total for the exam

Note: Maximum and total values are equal for single-scan exams

  • There are two separate filters for study dates

    • Include Data From specifies the time period to include, relative to today. The default is the current month, to date.

    • Exam Date Range displays the range of exam dates actually available and can be used to narrow the time frame to a range within the Include Data From time period

  • Age Group

  • Query by determines whether the RPID / Study description filter displays standardized RPID exam names or the facility’s Study Descriptions

  • Body Part restricts the RPID / Study filter to exams for the specified body part(s)

  • RPID / Study Description lists the available RPIDs or Study Descriptions, as determined by the Query by parameter setting

  • Scanner

The following example shows the distribution of measures for all head exams taken in the first three months of 2018, using the following criteria:

  • DIR Measure: CTDIvol Max across scans

  • Include Data From: This year (1/1/2019 to 12/31/2019)

  • Exam Date Range: 01-Jan-19 to 31-Jan-19

  • Query by: RPID

  • Body Part: FACE, HEAD, HEAD NECK

Note: Using the Body Part filter is not required in this example; however, doing so reduces the list of values in the RPID filter to only those related to the selected body part(s), making it easier to select only relevant RPIDs.

  • RPID / Study Description: All

  • Registry Statistcs: 75th Percentile

DIR Interactive Reports - Sample Boxplot by RPID 1

One RPID boxplot in the sample report, above, is an outlier relative to the rest of the RPIDs. Clicking on the axis label in the chart for this exam activates a filter which highlights that boxplot and updates the Facility Exam Count and Statistics by RPID tables to show data for that particular RPID only, CT HEAD ANGIO BRN STROKE (RPID325). Using the mouse to hover over the highest data point shows details for that exam.

Hovering over the grey areas of the boxplot shows the minimum, lower hinge (25th percentile), median, upper hinge (75th percentile), and maximum values. DIR Interactive Reports - Sample Boxplot by RPID 3

Clicking in any empty space on the graph clears the filter and resets the Facility Exam Count and Statistics by RPID tables.

You can also use the tables as filters. For example, clicking on the 7 - 10y age group row restricts the boxplots to exams for that age group only.

To compare data for this age group to registry statistics, use the Scatterplot Over Time or Boxplot by Scanner charts and select the RPID and Age Group using the report filters.

Note: Not all RPIDs and age groups have registry statistics
