Standardized DIR Reports use the same processed and standardized data as DIR aggregate feedback reports, such as the quarterly Executive Summary and facility Excel reports. Reports generated by the tool

  • incorporate data from localizers to calculate size-specific dose estimates (SSDE),

  • normalize dose indices based on phantom size for fair comparison with other facilities,

  • standardize exam names, by applying the RadLex Playbook IDs (RPID) mappings you created, so that data may be compared to registry benchmarks

  • exclude inapplicable data such as dose indices associated with timing runs.

More information on the standardization process is available in The ACR Computed Tomography Dose Index Registry: The 5 Million Examination Update.

You can use the report tool to create tables and charts, similar to those available in the aggregate feedback reports, for any interim period and with up-to-date data.  The Summary Comparisons report also allows you to create an Excel spreadsheet of comparison results for CTDIvol, SSDE, or DLP data by exam RPID.

Please keep in mind as you use these reports that the results of your search will not match any search conducted through a non-standardized DIR Report, such as CTDIvol Over Time, CTDIvol Box Plot, etc. because those reports use the raw data submitted by your facility before we standardize the exam names.

Getting Started

The Standardized Dose Index Reports tool is a separate application that provides a user-friendly interface to generate reports using criteria not available in other DIR reporting tools.

To launch the tool, log in to NRDR, select DIR from the registries menu, then select Standardized Dose Index ReportsDIR Standardized Dose Index Reports

The Standardized Dose Index Report login window appears, with the NRDR tab highlighted. Click the Login button to access the application. Your NRDR credentials are applied automatically, so there’s no need to re-enter your user name or password.DIR SDIR - Login Window

After you log in, click on a report name to open the application.DIR SDIR - Reports Menu

Note: Data for the most recent seven days may not be complete and fully accurate because we are continually processing and standardizing the data flowing into DIR from TRIADTM.

The report filter opens, with various options for specifying criteria for the report. You can navigate between reports at any time by clicking the report name in the banner across the top of the filter.DIR SDIR - Report Banner

Use the report filter to specify your criteria, then click the Search button at the bottom of the screen to generate your report. The following options are available for most reports:

Data Type

Determines which metric to display:

  • CTDIvol Max across scans

  • CTDIvol Total for exam

  • SSDE Max across scans

  • SSDE Total for exam

  • DLP Max across scans

  • DLP Total for exam

Age Group

Can be Adult (age > 18), Pediatric (age <=18) or both groups. If only Pediatric is selected, you can further restrict results by pediatric age group.DIR SDIR - Pediatric Age Group Filter

From/To Date

Sets criteria for exam date

Sets criteria to include one or more scanners in results. You can select a subset of multiple scanners by clicking and holding the Ctrl key while selecting values.

Sets criteria for which exam types to include, using the RadLex Playbook ID. You can select multiple values by holding the Ctrl key.

Note: These IDs are the standardized language the ACR uses for study description names. Every study description must be tagged with an RPID (see Exam Name Mapping Tool for full instructions) before it can be displayed using this search filter.

Study Description

Sets criteria for which exams to include, using your facility’s exam description. This filter is an alternative to the RPID filter; click the box next to the RPID or Study Description label to toggle between the filters.DIR SDIR - RPID-Study Description Toggle

The Scanner, RPID, and Study Description filters can be expanded by clicking the Large button to make it easier to review and select values. Select the values you want, then close the window by clicking the in the upper right corner.DIR SDIR - Select RPIDs from Large Window

You can change the sort order for the Scanner and RPID filters by selecting a parameter from the dropdown list.
